Well Friday saw me braving the journey to the dark half of ‘The North’ and visiting Leeds to go and see Mates of State and The New Pornographers at The Cockpit. I have to say I’m so glad I put the effort in and made the trip there, the gig just blew me away. Got right to the front as usual for the entire gig, even managed to dance for most of it thanks to the strange way that no one was pushing. There was actually room around you to do more than just jump up and down in time to the music. I have to say Leeds crowds are far more pleasant to be in than Manchester ones, the only thing I missed was the lack of banter between the bands and the audience but that’s a small thing really.

I was going to write a big long review of the gig but you know what, it just wouldn’t do it justice, instead Ill just say this: If you ever, EVER get the opportunity to see Mates of State or The New Pornographers perform then DO IT!!

And oh yeah… Jason from Mates of State has lovely taste in underwear….
