An Apology

I know, I know last night I said I’d put up a review of the new Doctor Who. Unfortunatly my new hard disc came today so I’ve been spending most of this evening trying to install it in one of my servers and bring my data storage capacity over the 1 Terabyte mark.
You wouldn’t believe the hassle I’ve been having with it. The first machine I installed it in recognised it fine, but windows refused to boot. The second machine had barely enough space to physically install it. Finally got it in with a lot of rearranging of cables and drives. Switch the bugger on….

PSU fan starts up and then promptly switches off. great I’ve blown the PSU. Try it again just incase. PSU fan starts up and then promptly switches off. I guess I’m just trying to take too much juice out of the poor thing. So I go and dive into my spares box and get out a beefier PSU I’ve been saving for just such an occasion. Swap them around. Switch on the bugger…..

Nothing. Nada. Zilch!!

ARRRGGHH!

Must be a duff PSU, So I get my multimeter on it to make sure… Everything seems fine. Swap it into another server, works great. Put it back in the PSU-less server, works… Some times I just want to give up all this PC business and spend my free time repeatedly bashing my head against a brick wall. It’d be more constructive and less frustrating.

So now I’m formatting the bugger.. nothing else can go wrong, can it?

(I now realise that in the time it’s taken me to write this I could have reviewed Dr Who… hmmm)
